Located amidst wildlife, in a rural town in Gabon, was a globally renowned oil company that was unable to achieve production goals due to insufficient power. The oil company experienced a failure of their 25-year-old gas turbine which had been built by a company that was no longer in business. The turbine couldn’t be repaired quickly, and the surrounding infrastructure was in decay.

The oil company needed power to be restored rapidly, and the power source needed to burn wellhead gas as its source of fuel. Peterson Power also faced the challenge of fitting the new equipment into the limited space of the old location.

Peterson Power transported a 5.7 MW Solar Turbines Mobile Power Unit (MPU) from the US to the job site in Gabon, then provided engineering services to integrate the new turbine into the facility, as well as site set up commissioning and integration of the balance of plant. Peterson Power also provided a gas treatment skid and onsite supervision of the MPU installation.

Power was restored within two weeks after our arrival on site, and the plant attained full operating capacity. Peterson Power’s MPU was so reliable that the customer purchased it in their third year of their rental agreement (when the original contract was only a one-year rental). Peterson Power had the right mix of reliable products and services to meet their needs.
