Every pump must have a pump end seal. The seal is the point where the shaft enters the volute. It keeps air out and liquid/vacuum in. The Sykes AmeriPumps sealing system is a patented system that has been in use for over 30 years. It uses a common piece of graphite impregnated packing inside a spring loaded carrier.
The Vacuum Pressure Seal has roughly the same life as the mechanical seals used by our competitors. When it needs replacing, the packing seal can be replaced in the field in about 20 minutes with about $50 in parts. No special tools required. To change out a mechanical seal, it could take more than a day to repair and cost up to $1,500.
