During the two year program the student will devote approximately half of the time to their technical and academic education. The remaining time is for their on-the-job internship experience at their sponsoring CAT dealership. Each block of technical and general education is followed by an immediate dealer internship which reinforces the technical education. Each intern period lasts about 10 weeks. It is essential that the student’s education at ThinkBIG and the dealership work experience be closely aligned for maximum learning and retention. The paid internship can help students pay for their education while receiving valuable work experience. College fees, textbooks, travel expenses, and housing costs are the responsibility of the student. A prescribed tool set will be provided to each student to use while enrolled in this program. This training provides the technician with the opportunity to further develop and enhance the skills necessary for journey level certification.
